March 30 - April 3, 2020
Just a few months away until our retreat to Berlin OH and Holmes County, are you getting excited? This is an informational letter to give you some details that will make the trip much more pleasant. We have increased our nights from 3 to 4. More time for fun!
The cost of each room per night is $90.19 with the total cost being $360.76. This includes all taxes and surcharges. This is a per room rate not per person-per person rate is $180.38 based on double occupancy. If you have already paid a non-refundable $25 deposit simply subtract that amount for your room rate. If you are staying in a room by yourself, then you will subtract your $25 deposit from $360.76. I will need the balance of your room paid to me no later than Monday, March 11, 2019. The non-refundable $25 deposit will be due no later than Monday, February 11, 2019 . The payment for your deposit and room balance must be made in the form of check or cash. The staff at Zinck’s prefers that I pay for the entire stay with one credit card.
This is a new Fire Safety Regulation, if you have three to a room, one bed will have to have two people in it.
You will need to have a 3 X 5 card with your name, address, and phone number as well as emergency phone number contact and any health or dietary concerns. Please tape this card face down to the back of your sewing machine when you arrive at Zinck’s. This will help me in case of any emergency.
All of our sleeping rooms are on the lower level with at your door parking. The conference room where we will be sewing is on the same level.
Breakfast each day is provided by Zinck’s.
Zinck’s is a non-smoking, no-alcohol facility and this will be strictly enforced.
You may go to www.zincksinn.com to see the facility and all of the amenities.
I will be arriving at Berlin on Monday, March 30, 2020 probably no earlier than 1:00pm.
Hot breakfast is served daily and coffee and hot tea until 11pm. Cable television, wireless internet, choice of one king bed or two queens, USA Today, refrigerator, free local and long distance calls are included.
Check in time is 3pm for your rooms on Monday, March 30, 2020. Check out time on Friday, April 3, 2020 is 11am. We can get in the conference room at 3pm on Monday but we must be out of the conference room and have our mess cleaned up by 8am on Friday as they have another event coming in for the weekend.
Our deposit is not refunded. If any rooms are cancelled less than 30 days from our event, then you will be responsible for paying for your room fees.
Each participant will have their own 8 foot table on which to work. Zinck’s staff will be responsible for taping down power strips for our use so we don’t have to bring our own. Each participant may bring a mini iron and small ironing surface such as one of those Olfa rotary mats and pressing surface combos.
The conference room where we will be sewing has a small kitchen with a few appliances but I don’t think that it is big enough for a lot of cooking. There is a refrigerator in each room and you can bring snacks, drinks, etc.
When we are done each night, the conference room will be locked and all of your valuable sewing stuff will be safe. There is only one key given for the conference room. We will have to keep track of that key.
Zinck’s is about a three hour drive from BERNINA Main Street.
You may want to do some internet research on what shops, restaurants, and other facilities are available. Once again, there will be door prize drawings.
I do not know what kind of lighting this conference room has, so if you have a small ott light or any size that clamps to a table, it might be a good idea to throw that in. I am assuming that the chairs are either folding chairs or those stackable upholstered hotel chairs. If you have room for your own comfortable chair, please bring it!
We will be having a meet and greet for all retreat participants at 8:00pm Monday, April 1 in the conference room. This will help all of us get to know our fellow retreaters. You can write out a small bio for yourself (where you are from, how long you've been sewing/quilting, etc.) or just speak off the cuff or I will read it for you. Pick one word and color that best describes you.
I do not have email addresses for everyone that is going on retreat. Please forward this information on to anyone that is sharing a room or traveling with you. Thanks!
